Infusionsoft Smart Lists

Keap has just launched a new feature for Infusionsoft users that I can see being really helpful down the road.

They’re using “machine learning” (or artificial intelligence) to automatically identify contacts who meet certain criteria (or who may meet certain criteria in the future).

At the time of launch, the feature is designed to help Infusionsoft users identify email addresses that may be at risk for spam complaints or decreasing sender reputation.  Currently Infusionsoft is automatically creating 3 Smart Lists for you.  The definitions below are taken from the help article on help.infusionsoft.com.

  • Email Typos – Flags contacts with bad email addresses, example: “gmai.com”. This makes them available for editing.
  • Clean List – Shows contacts with low engagement (e.g. no opens or high bounce rates). You may want to try a different communication approach with these contacts, or remove them from your list.
  • Delinquent Email – Certain gateway providers (Yahoo, AOL etc) are rejecting email from delinquent email accounts – accounts that have not been accessed for, say, 5 years. When Keap gets notified of one of these accounts we will notify you that the contact/s need to be opt-ed out of your email marketing strategies.

For more information on how to act on these Smart Lists, refer to my article on “Delinquent Emails” here.

The Exciting News

What’s really cool to me is the future of what this feature may look like.  If Infusionsoft is using machine learning to identify aspects of contacts, here are some Smart Lists I’d love to see one day:

  • Hot Prospects – Automatically identify people getting close to purchasing.
  • Loyal Customers – Automatically identify people who have made multiple purchases over time.
  • Information Consumers – Automatically identify people who visit my website often, read blog posts, and read emails.
  • Ready For Upsell – Automatically identify people who have made a purchase and are ready to make the next purchase.
  • Potential Partner – Automatically identity people who may be a good fit as a referral partner or other kind of partner.

And the list goes on and on.  This could get really exciting.

I don’t know what Keap’s plans are for this feature, but I hope they’re going down this road.

  1. How long do you think it will be until we can create our own smart lists? For example, when a value in a particular field changes, add/move to a different list

    1. The idea behind smart lists is that they’re automatic (maybe eventually run by some kind of artificial intelligence). We won’t be able to create them. But you can create any list you want already. Do the search you want, then save it as a saved search.
