This is great – you could also simplify it a step further by setting the merge field default, right? That way you don’t have to worry about setting the field value, or updating the value for folks when it has been set.

Isn’t there a limit on the number of global fields that you can have? It used to be 100, so has that number been increased?
The limit of Custom Fields on the Contact record has been increased to 150. Merge fields in campaigns are unlimited.
