“If You Have Enthusiasm, a Positive Attitude, and a Few Basic Skills…
We Have a Fun and Rewarding Career Opportunity for You!”

Dear Prospective Employee,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit this site. It’s my hope that you have precisely what we’re looking for in a candidate so my team can take this page down immediately and put you to work in the fun and rewarding position we have available.

Let me begin by sharing a little about our company and the position we currently have available.

My name is Tyler Garns and my company is called Box Out Marketing.

We serve small business owners through a systematic business coaching program that helps entrepreneurs build profitable, sustainable businesses that support themselves and their families.

I’ve been in marketing & sales for over 15 year and before starting this business I was the Vice President of Marketing at a very successful software company. Box Out Marketing is the culmination of years of experience. I invite you to learn more about our company and our mission by going here.

Our offices are located in San Marcos/San Elijo Hills, CA.

If you’re selected for this position, you’ll work here every day and our typical office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. The position starts at $15-20/hour with significant growth opportunities available for “A Players”.

Are You An “A Player”?

There are a lot of jobs out there today.

At Box Out Marketing we’re ONLY looking for “A Players” to join our team.

“A Players” are people who are committed to excellence in all that they do.

They can get a job anywhere, but they take the time to research the companies they’re considering working for, they’re selective in the interviews they go out on, and they “go the extra mile” in searching for the “right” position because they’re looking for more than a job. . . they’re looking for a long-term career opportunity.

They’re looking to be part of a team where they can make a positive impact on the world through the work they do WHILE being challenged to grow and become a better version of themselves.

If that doesn’t sound like you, then feel free to stop reading this page and close your browser window now.

If you think you are, in fact, an “A Player”, then please read on to learn more about the exciting opportunity we have available for the right candidate.

Fair Warning

Our hiring process isn’t quick and easy.

We’re going to ask you to jump through a few hoops to prove you’ve got the character as well as demonstrate the values that align with our team and mission.

You’ll be asked to take multiple tests.

You’ll have a least 2-3 interviews.

And we’re going to take our time in making sure you’re someone we want to invest our resources in growing.

While the position you’re reading about here is for an entry level Web Developer, that’s not what we’re really looking for.

We can find someone to perform that job anywhere.

We’re looking for someone who wants grow with us in the years to come. Over the years I’ve developed many entry level employees to top-performing managers. And because they’re “A Players”, they were promoted quickly through the ranks.

Ok, if I haven’t scared you away just yet, then let’s continue. . .

List of Responsibilities For This Position

The Web Developer position has several of responsibilities you’ll be expected to perform:

    • Build Websites — We are looking for someone who can quickly and efficiently build websites from top-to-bottom – usually on a content management system such as WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal.
    • Landing Pages — Much of the time in this position will be spent configuring landing/squeeze pages in WordPress, Lead Pages, OptimizePress, and Unbounce. We need someone who can learn our system and crank these out with speed and accuracy.
    • Basic Programming — As a Box Out Marketing Web Developer, you’ll be asked to do some basic PHP programming. We have many prewritten scripts that only need to be installed, tweaked, and launched. This requires an eye for detail, accuracy, and sometimes a bit of creativity.
    • CSS Styling
      – Many of our clients are using templated systems that need some styling adjustments in order to match the look and feel of their sites

Required Skills

These are the skills you must already have in order to qualify for this position:

    • HTML5/CSS2: You must be very comfortable with HTML5 and CSS2. You won’t usually be asked to code pages/sites from scratch since we often use content management systems. But solid skills with HTML5 and CSS2 will be required to do your work efficiently.
    • Javascript/JQuery/JQueryUI: You must be familiar with Javascript, JQuery, and JQueryUI. Many of the themes and templates we use require skills in this area. Again, you won’t often be required to write javascript from scratch, but you will need to be able to efficiently use JQuery and JQueryUI to create site interactions and design.
    • PHP5: You must be familiar with PHP basics. Most of the time you’ll be tweaking and installing existing scripts, but a knowledge of the logic and syntax is necessary.
    • Thoughtfulness and Organization: You must be able to think for yourself and be organized. Our company is fast-paced and you must be able to work on your own and solve problems quickly. We’re very serious about this one. In order to learn and grow with our team, you must have yourself organized and be able to work within deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize.
    • Ability to work on your own and solve problems quickly, work in a fast-paced environment.

What’s Next

We’re looking to hire the right person immediately. So if this job sounds good to you, follow these instructions now.

NOTE: Failure to follow these instructions will result in your resume going in the circular file. This is your first test, okay?

    1. Write a letter explaining why you are the perfect person to fill this position. Include full contact information (name, address, phone, email) on this cover letter.
    2. Include your resume with all updated information on your education and work experience.

Someone on our team will review your file. If we feel you’re a good candidate and potential “A player”, you will receive a call or email with the next steps quickly.

The sooner we receive your package, the better. We look forward to reviewing it and hopefully meeting you personally.

Again, thanks very much for your interest in our company,

Tyler Garns

Box Out Marketing, LLC
