One of the most common things that Infusionsoft users come across is the need for creating a “looping sequence”.
A looping sequence allows a contact to “loop” through the same process over and over.
This is very common in businesses that offer monthly membership or have repeat buyers.
Yesterday, as I sat with a client, we built out the framework for a simple looping sequence. Here was his situation:
He has a monthly membership and offers a live webinar each month for members only. Prior to this, he had a simple looping sequence to invite members to the webinar but he was manually adding new members to the loop, manually removing cancelled members, and manually applying the tag each month to “loop” them back through.
So, here were the requirements for what we wanted to do:
- Automatically start new members into the sequence and get the reminders for the upcoming webinar
- Automatically remove cancelled members so they stop getting the webinar reminders
- Allow a few days, right after each webinar, for our client to edit the emails and timers and get them ready for the next webinar
- Automatically loop active members back into the sequence to start getting next month’s reminders
I recorded this video as I sat with him. It’s quick and dirty, but it should be a good example of how to set up a campaign like this.

Great resource Tyler! In this scenario it looks like anyone who signs up as a member on June 12th (but after 8 am) would receive BOTH emails in that sequence, at the same time. Right?
You could change the first timer so that it is June 10-12 instead of 13th and switch the time so it is BETWEEN 8am-5pm, and that would ensure they only get one email at a time.

True Greg! I was framing this out super quickly for the client and realized that after the fact. I originally talked to him about doing a BETWEEN 8am and 5pm option and he didn’t necessarily want it that way. But that’s what I would have done. And clearly the timing needs to be adjusted so they don’t get both emails at the same time. Nice catch!

Hi Tyler – quick question…..where would the “Member webinar – STOP” tag be applied? Is that like a quick “opt out” of this campaign tag that is applied based on a member’s response somewhere? Thanks…..am actually just implementing a looping campaign this morning!
Yes. I would be applied in another campaign when a member is cancelled, or like you mentioned, if you want to give them an option to “opt out” of those reminders.
I was really hoping to get something out of this tutorial but it’s so difficult. If I may make a few suggestions:
1) Speak slower. If you just trying to show people what BoM can do, then I get it but if you’re trying actually instruct, slow it down a bit.
2) Host a higher definition video. None of the text can be read. You could have easily been writing “anfd;jga ;djgaj g” and no one would have known different.
3) Give some video control. This looks like a pretty sweet campaign tool but I am not going to watch this video from the start X times trying to keep up with you. “Wait, what did he just say…crap now I gotta start all over again…”
4) Organization. You start with the beginning and end (tags), throw some stuff into the middle, jump back, put some more stuff in the middle.
I’d really like to get at the nuts and bolts of what you are saying because I know you are someone who is at the top tier of IS knowledge but it’s impossible from this video.
